EC can allow demonstrations but with a tighter limit

New Delhi: With Review Preparedness polls by the Election Commission completed for all five states of polls, updated rolls for Uttar Pradesh with January 1, 2022 as a reference date published on Wednesday and the discussion of the spread of paramilitary central forces is reported to be completed between EC officials and MHA, the paved road for poll panels to announce the schedule of assembly polls above, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.
EC is also known to review the Covid guidelines, considering the developing situation and assessment divided by it by the Ministry of Health and the state government in question.
According to the source, the panel will not pull the plug in physical demonstrations but can impose a more stringent sidewalk, as well as issuing advisors to political parties to do self-restraint and try to campaign as much as possible through digital mode and hold smaller demonstrations.
There are also sufficient indications that roadshows can be banned, because it is not practical to curb the number of participants who continue to grow as mobile roadshows.
Submission of online nominations will be emphasized.
A source shows that Covid norms for physical demonstrations will be dynamic and revised from time to time.
While an extra hour polling will be permitted, the number of voters per polling station has also been cut from 1500 to 1200-1250 which is normal to help maintain social distance.
The source told TII that the expenditure limit for candidates could be increased from RS 22 Lakh at this time – Rs 30.8 lakh for the future and all future assembly polls.
ToI also learned that a large number of paramilitary police forces and countries and countries could be used to conduct polls above and and to fewer levels in Punjab and Manipur.
A source indicates that it rises maybe around 1 lakh security personnel deployed in all phases, which can stretch to 7-8 phases.
