New Delhi: The Indian Election Commission on Saturday extended the ban on physical demonstrations and road performances until January 31 amid rise in the case of Covid-19 in the country.
However, EC allows small windows for people directly campaigning in indoor spaces.
Parties and candidates can hold a physical meeting with a maximum of 500 people in open space starting January 28 for the first phase and from February 1 for the second phase.
“ECI expanded the prohibition on physical demonstrations and road shows until January 31, 2022.
Relaxation for the physical public meeting of political parties or candidate contests for phase 1 were permitted from January 28, 2022 and for phase 2 from February 1, 2022,” the poll panel said in a tweet.
“The limit of 5 people for the door to door campaign is increased to 10 people.
