Patna: The election commission has introduced a biometric system for the first time in the ongoing Panchayat election to examine the false selection in the state.
Speaking with MediaPereka, Minister of Panchayati Raj, Samrat Choudhary, said biometric technology was used during the first phase of Panchayat election on Thursday.
He, however, admitted that there were certain problems in several places because of the use of biometric systems for the first time.
“But we hope there will be no problems from the next phase,” he added.
Advocating the system, the minister said it was the best method to stop false selection in elections.
Choudhary, who runs his franchise at a voting booth under the Tarapur block in the Munger district on Thursday, confirms that the use of technology makes the selection process more transparent.
Meanwhile, polling in style, Aurangabad, Arwal, Jamui, Rohas, Kimbaya, Jehabad, Nawada, Munger and Banka died peacefully amid strict security settings.
