New Delhi: Election Commission, which was informed by Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan on Monday that five polls did not have many cases of omicrons at this time, may not consider scheduling elections.
After being released in detail about the level of omicron cases above, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur and vaccination status in these countries, the EC has now asked the health secretary to follow up on its instructions to step the vaccination rate and return within a week with new reports.
Based on the report and inputs that will be collected during a three-day visit starting on Tuesday, the Election Commission will receive a free-tuning guide for safe campaigns and polls in five countries, said a source.
Meanwhile, this center also asked five polls to increase testing exponentially and ensure the appropriate covid behavioral enforcement, regardless of increased vaccination coverage.
A judge of the High Court of Allahabad recently asked EC and PMO to postpone the election in the omicron threat view.
Bhushan told EC that Uttarakhand and Goa had 100% coverage of the first dose of Covid vaccines.
It was around 85% above, 79% in Punjab and 70% in Manipur, he said.
EC requests that coverage is brought to 100% or as high as possible.
The second dose coverage in Uttarakhand and the Goa is almost 80%, he said, adding it, Punjab and Manipur, there is a lot behind.
EC told the health secretary to ensure that everyone who had completed three months since their first dose was identified and given the second dose without delay.
EC also met with ITBP representatives and Sashastra Seema Bal, which maintained international borders in Uttarakhand and rises, and asked them to increase supervision to prevent external efforts to weaken polls.
Discussion with BSF, which is deployed along the Indo-Pakistani border in Punjab, will be held later.
EC is likely to announce polls in five countries every time after January 5, when the rolls are updated in connection with 1 January 2022 because the reference date is expected to be published.
