Kolkata: West Bengal Election Commission on Saturday postponed polls to four city companies three weeks to 12 February after the increasing Covid-19 case.
According to the notification issued by SEC, the poll to Siliguri Municipal Corporation, Chandernagore Municipal Corporation, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation and Asansol Municipal Corporation will now be held on February 12 instead of January 22.
Polls will be held from 7am to 5pm.
Previously on that day, the state government sent a letter to seconds, giving his approval to reschedule the election date, because of the current pandemic situation.
The Calcutta High Court also asked the commission to explore the possibility of postponing civilian polls with four to six weeks given the surge in the case.
