EC to hold a meeting with poll observers on Friday

New Delhi: Election Commission will hold a virtual meeting on Friday with observers to be deployed for elections in five countries.
The top brass from the Poll Panel will provide general observers, police and expenditure of their roles and responsibilities during the electoral assignment.
The selection of assemblies at Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa will be held between February 10 and March 7 with vote counting on March 10.
Observers are drawn for various services such as IAS, IPS, IRS and various services.
The Commission usually warns observers about the role assigned after the poll schedule is announced.
During the briefing, observers were given a comprehensive input on various aspects of election management by EC senior officials.
Separately, the Commission can discuss on Saturday about whether to continue with a ban on physical demonstrations, road shows and pad yatras.
Announcing polls in five countries on January 8, EC has imposed a ban until January 15 to the physical event to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
