Karachi: England and Wales Cricket Board Executive Tom Harrison has flown to Pakistan to meet the Chairman of the PCB Ramiz Raja in an effort to improve damaged relations by the cancellation of the tour last month.
According to sources at PCB, in addition to meeting the king, Harrison will also refer to Imran Khan’s Prime Minister in Islamabad before he flew out to Dubai for the T20 World Cup final and the ICCE Executive Board meeting on November 17.
British men team arranged for Pakistani tour in October for the first time since 2005, while their women have never played in the country.
However, the ECB has canceled the series, quoting “mental and physical welfare” from players and security issues, decisions filled with severe criticism.
Harrison’s decision to come to Pakistan came to the heel of the announcement by Cricket Australia that it would go around Pakistan early next year.
Australia’s confirmation to send his team to Pakistan has just arrived for days after the West Indies board also announced on the Pakistani tour in December for the white ball series.
Confirmation by two boards has come as a welcome news for the PCB, which was destroyed by a decision by Cricket New Zealand to issue his team from Pakistan’s tour in September due to security threats and then the ECB’s decision also did not send his team to the white ball match.
But one PCB source clarified that while Harrison’s visit was welcome and as well as his guarantee that Britain would make a full tour of Pakistan at the end of next year, Ramiz would take the case against New Zealand’s cricket and the ECB strongly at the ICC board meeting.
