Economic surveys tend to be a single volume this year

New Delhi: The economic survey for 2021-22 is likely to have only one volume due to the absence of a full-time economic advisor (CEA).
One-volume will mostly become data for the fiscal year throughout the sector and will not have a policy recipe that forms a part of the main volume-1, shows.
Subramanian Cea Krishnamurthy has now announced its plan to return to academics after the task of three years ended on 7 December last month, the government began a search for new CEA and the process was likely to be completed in January.
“We will not have a full time CEA to take ownership of economic surveys.
This will be a single volume document,” said an official, who did not want to be named.
CEA must be present in parliament to answer any questions related to economic surveys.
At the beginning of the term of office of NDA II, the Secretary of Economic Affairs Arvind Mayaram was credited with a survey when Subramanian Arvind had not taken over as CEA.
This survey is an economic report card and volume 1 has been used with successive ceeas to push through reform ideas.
Unlike in the past, several major reform initiatives described in the survey were carried out by the government this year to help the economy recover quickly from the impact of the awesome Covid pandemic.
Officials said Subramanian would oversee some of the basics for a single volume survey.
The movement lights up to appoint a new CEA immediately as an officer about special tasks (OSD) to ensure a smooth transition.
Subramanian has started several initiatives such as the monthly economic report (MER) that CEA needs to be done.
The economic survey for 2020-21 has expected GDP growth to rebound to 10.5% and forcibly articulated that the economy will register V-shaped recovery.
