Patna: a high-level meeting chaired by Minister Nith Kumar on Wednesday decided to create separate wings in the Department of Environment, forest and climate change (DEFCC) for promotion and development of systematic ecotourism in the state.
“The meeting also approved the design of ecotourism policy for the country.
So far, the Bihar Government has no policy for ecotourism development.
The policy design will now be sent to the Cabinet for compulsory approval,” one of the participants at the meeting and a senior officer told toi on the day Wednesday.
“In accordance with the design of the policy, there will be two committees one at the state level, while others at the district level.
State-level committees led by the Main Secretary, DEFCC, will make decisions about state level problems and policy issues for promotion and development of ecotourism Systematic.
The district level committee led by district judges will take local problems and ensure the right development of ecotourism places in their respective districts, “the officer said, who did not want to be identified, said.
In accordance with the policy, the district government will receive approval from the local community and also ensure their participation in decision making while developing ecotourism in any location.
Administration will also ensure that members of the local community have employment opportunities after the development of ecotourism.
At the beginning of the meeting, the main secretary, DEFCC, Dipak Kumar Singh submitted a presentation on the state ecotourism policy before CM, and provided detailed information about ecotourism promotions in the state.
Singh also informed CM about the ecotourism plan and its implementation strategy.
After reviewing the presentation, said Nitish, “We have taken several steps for environmental protection.
Now, we have prepared a policy for ecotourism development.” Cm then asks officials to develop ecotourism while maintaining reasonable consistency with nature.
“We must remember that there should be no damage to the nature in the process of developing ecotourism.
We must protect biodiversity and inheritance, as well,” he said, “Ecotourism will increase awareness about the environment and animals among people.” Refers to prospects Ecotourism Development near Valmikinagar Tiger Reserve (VTR), said Nitish, “Valmikinagar is a unique place where the riverbank river crosses from one side, while the other party has a series of forests and mountains.
This will be a better location for ecotourism promotions.

Nitish further asked DEFCC officials to ensure ecotourism management and monitoring only through department officials.
He said department officials must visit locations with experts and assess the basic level of the situation.
They must work for ecotourism development based on assessment and remember local situations.
