Mumbai: The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has summoned former Police Commissioner Mumbai Param Singh to record his statement in connection with the money laundering case associated with former Interior Minister Anil Deshmukh.
Singh has been looking for time stating that he is not healthy and suggested for surgery.
Ed will record a statement dismissed by the police assistant Inspector Sachin Waze in prison on Saturday.
After removal from the Mumbai Police Commissioner post in March, Singh wrote a letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray who accused Deshmukh has asked Waze and two other officers to illegally collect Rs 100 Crore from restaurant owners and bars in the city every month.
Ed has recorded Waze’s previous statement too.
Then Waze claimed that he had collected Rs 4.7 Crore between December 2020 and February 2021 and handed it to Desthmukh Kundan Shinde’s personal assistant.
The money was then allegedly directed by the help of a Hawala operator based in Delhi and transferred to Dishmukh’s trust in Nagpur as a donation.
Last month, Ed had arrested the Secretary of Swinde and Secretary Swinde Deshmukh Sanjeev Palade, also an additional collector rating officer.
