New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday arrested the former Punjab MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira in connection with the money laundering case that was examined against him and the officials said.
They said Khaira, 56, was detained by a central probe agent in Punjab with the provisions of the prevention of money laundering law (PMLA).
The agency has raided its premise in March this year.
Ed accused Khaira was a “partner” drug drug and fake passport squeezer.
Politicians have denied any mistakes and said he was targeted by the central agency because he had vocal against three central agricultural laws.
He recently resigned from the State Assembly.
Khaira won the assembly election in 2017 from the Bholath assembly chair in the Punjab Kapurthala Regency on the AAM AAM AADMI (AAP) ticket.
He resigned from the main membership of AAP ARVIND KeRriwal-LED in January 2019 and drifted his own clothes, the Punjab Ecta party.
He then rejoined the Congress.
