Chennai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has transferred two cases registered with two ministers of Nadu Tamil – Minister of Fisheries Anitha R Radhakrishnan and Electricity Minister Senthil Balaji – from the unit of Madurai ‘administrative reasons’ for Chennai.
ED officials based in Delhi confirmed the transfer of cases to Chennai.
Anitha Radhakrishnan has emerged before ED officials for inquiry in mid-September in connection with money laundering cases.
Following the registration of disproportionate assets cases by the Directorate of Precautions and Anti-Corruption (DV & AC) in 2006, Ed registered the prevention of money laundering money (PMLA) acting against Radhakrishnan and family members.
DVAC case reached the Chargesheet stage in 2019 and was waiting before a court in thoothukudi.
Whereas for Senthil Balaji, the case of Ed is registered after the state crime branch of the State Crime posted it in the case of a work racket conducted by people who claimed closeness to him during the transportation assignments in the Jayalalithaa government.
Senthil Balaji also appeared in front of ED officials for inquiry in mid-August, said source.
