New Delhi / Srinagar: Brother of the former Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mestboba Mufti have been asked to appear before the enforcement directorate in the national capital on Thursday to be questioned in the case of money laundering, officials said on Wednesday.
Tassaduq Hussain Mufti, who is Minister of Tourism in his sister’s cabinet, has been asked to appear in front of the case investigation officer here on Thursday and getting a statement noted by the provisions of the prevention of money laundering Law (PMLA).
Investigation, they said, related to some funds allegedly received by him in their accounts from several Kashmir-based businesses.
Reacting to this, Mehbooba Mufti told PTI that it was a political vendetta against it.
“When I raised my voice against mistakes, there was a call to wait for someone from my family.
This time is my brother,” he told PTI here.
Mehbooba Mufti, who has been questioned by ED in the past in connection with other money laundering cases, said that he had protested the murder of innocent civilians in the suburbs of Srinagar on Monday.
Four people were killed on the outskirts of the city on Monday by soldiers and police, who dubbed them “terrorists” and “Harbourers of Terrorists”.
However, the families of these people have opposed claims, saying that they are innocent people.
The police’s contradictory statement in this case has also raised eyebrows that encourage political leaders, including Mehbooba Mufti, to protest against it.
