New Delhi: Venkaiiah Naidu vice president on Sunday said that education and medical treatment must be affordable.
Naidu spoke on the functions of the 11th medical teacher day award here on the occasion of Teacher’s Day.
“Good, medical education, and care must be affordable and within reach of ordinary people.
I was told that almost one Lakh Mbbs graduate fainted every year.
However, not all will be able to join the Postgraduate Program,” Naidu said during a speech, according to the Deputy Presidential Secretariat.
“I was told that to meet the increasing demand for post-graduate medical education, the National Council had provided the road by allowing students to receive training in private hospitals,” he said.
“I am happy to note that the training provided at a private hospital is under the strict supervision of the National Examination Board, which conducts periodic audits of each hospital,” he added.
Naidu also said that services 3 to 5 years in rural areas for young doctors are very important while showing that 60 percent of the country’s population lives in villages.
Naidu also emphasizes that education and medical treatment must be affordable and within reach of ordinary people.
He said that the top priority must be given to the education and health sector with a larger budget allocation.
The vice president emphasized the need to increase the number of medical universities while referring to government efforts to bridge the gap in the ratio of doctors in the country.
He said the ratio of patients was 1: 1,456 as opposed to the Norma WHO 1: 1000.
Revealed his appreciation for the government’s plan to form at least one medical college in each district, he showed that the ratio of urban-rural doctors was also very tilted with more professionals Medical who chooses to work in urban areas.
The Vice President said it was important to ensure that medical students absorb and practice high ethical and moral standards.
He advised them to always remain married for the right reason and protect the interests of the profession and their patients.
The vice president also gave respect for former presidents and statesmen-philosophers, the late Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan at the commemoration of his birth today.
