Educational institutions in Odisha have 1159 foreign students: Reports

BHUBANESWAR: All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) 2019-20 report which was released on Thursday revealed that 1159 foreign students including 379 female ones were pursuing their education in the educational institutions of the state in 2019-20.
This number was 516 in the 2018-19 report.
As many as 943 undergraduate students, 158 PG students and 58 PhD scholars from foreign countries were studying in the state.

According to the statistics, 34,649 female and 35,798 male students have enrolled for the PG programme.
Similarly, 584 female students out of 1,003 have enrolled for MPhil programme in the state.
But in the PhD programme, the number of male scholars (1,923) is more than the female (1,423).

Among other findings, the report stated that Odisha has 24 colleges per one lakh population.
Average enrollment per one college is 659.
But the national average is higher than the state.
India has 30 colleges per one lakh population and 680 average enrolment per college.
The report showed that the state has 1087 colleges, but 1077 colleges have responded to this survey.
It says that 1, 39,451 students have enrolled in 282 private un-aided colleges, 3, 00,937 students in 432 private aided colleges, 4,40,388 in 714 total private colleges and 2,68,975 students in 363 government colleges in the state.
