Effect of Rain: Power Request Hits All-Time Low in K’taka

Bengaluru: Karnataka has posted a decrease in the steepest power consumption during the winter, thanks to the time of time this year.
Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd.
(KPTCL) data shows that the demand for power on Wednesday morning (November 17) is 4.558MW.
Officials from the KPTCL load shipping center said this was low throughout the time.
The request rose to 6.428mW on Saturday at 4:30 a.m.
Usually, in mid-November when dry weather wins, the average daily consumption of the country is 9,500MW.
“Low demand is mainly due to low consumption with irrigation pumps.
The industry also consumes relatively less power, while domestic and commercial consumption remains normal,” said BR Chandrashekhar, director of KPTCL (transmission).
But domain experts say low power consumption is not good news because it reflects the lethargy of the agricultural sector and slow recovery by the industrial sector from pandemic-induced locking.
With 30.6 lakh pump irrigation installed in the state, the agricultural sector consumes around 4,000 MW in November because the plant harvest farmers grow in the Kharif season (June-September) and began to sow the rabbi season (October-January).
However, daily power consumption has almost not passed 300MW between 1 and 19 November.
“It clearly shows agricultural activities have been jammed because the rain is not season.
Framers cannot harvest or sow, and this will lead to an unprecedented crisis this year.
If the rain continues for two more weeks or more, the impact will be even worse than the situation The hardest drought, “said GC Bayya Reddy, President, Karnataka Prantha Raitha Sangha.
The industry, this sector usually consumes 5,000 MW at its peak.
Actual consumption on Friday is around 3,000 MW.
“The industry is cumulatively estimated to have continued 60% of their normal productivity.
It takes time for them to consume power at normal levels,” Sampatharaman said, Chairman, the Organization of the All-India Manufacturer, Karnataka Board.
Only domestic consumption (around 1,500 MW) and commercial consumption (around 1,000 MW) at their normal level, said KPTCL officials.
