Efforts to raise funds for elephant conservation in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: Forest development agencies launch a number of initiatives to raise funds for elephant conservation activities and create awareness about the same thing among young people.
Funds, he said, will be used to protect and preserve elephants and provide some livelihoods to people living in villages along the edge of the forest.
On Friday, the agency that the Coimbatore Forest Division was formed last year, released a collection of T-shirts with the theme of elephant conservation.
Forest Minister K Ramachandran launched a T-shirt that came in nine molds.
They use illustrations or images of Asian or African elephants with messages related to saving wildlife or elephants.
T-shirts will be sold in eco-tourism places such as the elephant interpretation center that will come in Mettupalayam, monkeys are near Polartallam pollachi and kovai, etc.
I am Andwardeen, Principal of Forest, Coimbatore, and members of the agency, and limbs, said T-shirts will be sold by villagers along the edge of the forest.
“T-shirts are given a price of 600.
They are produced by classical polo, a garment manufacturer based in Tirupur.” This agency was formed to make the Ministry of Forestry and the people living along the edge of the forest working together and supported each other.
It has the main conservator forest as president and district forest officers as his secretary.
Other members include President Panchayat in villages along the edge of the forest.
Funds are needed for in-situ conservation initiatives, anti-hunting and rescue in the forest and provide some livelihoods to villagers along the edge of the forest.
Trying to imitate the tiger backup model, where eco-tourism is promoted and the results of the same use to save tigers, the agency plans several initiatives to raise funds.
“As soon as the pandemic ends, we plan to support a different community to come up with various products that can be sold with an elephant symbol on them.
After we have more products like that, we will establish souvenir shops,” Anwardeen said.
Venkatesh Durairaj District Forest Officer said they also had a plan to approach large companies to support wildlife and elephant conservation because they were a good source of funds and recognition.
