Mumbai: Nine districts, including Mumbai and Thane, will watch the drive of the intensive routine vaccination from March 7 to cover children and pregnant women.
“The Ministry of Health of the Union has chosen the district with around 80% of routine vaccination coverage.
National Special Round will try to cover as many children as possible,” said the State Immunization Officer Dr.
Sachin Desai.
In Maharashtra, the districts are Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Nashik, Buldhana, Wardha and Parbhani, he added.
Routine immunization suffered because of Covid locking in 2020 and when picked up in 2021, the purpose of a special special drive was announced, called the Mission Intensified Indradhanush (IMI) 4.0, was to cover 100% of children and pregnant women.
“Regular vaccination suffered during the first lock, but our outreach staff succeeded in covering nearly 90% of the eligible population in 2021, ” said BMC Health Officer Dr.
Mangala Gomare.
IMI 4.0 was almost inaugurated by the Minister of Health Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday .
“India implement globally the largest immunization program in which we annually covers more than 3 crore pregnant women and 2.6 crore children through universal immunization program,” he said.
