Bhubaneswar: The unknown cyber criminal deceives a 76-year-old man from Rs 13 Lakh by asking him to download the evil application for easy port number.
Sadasiba Mohanty, the victim of Sailashree Vihar here, filed a complaint with the Crime and Economic Police Station (CC & EO) on Wednesday.
Mohanty recently approached the vendor in Sailashree Vihar and submitted the portability of his telephone number.
On Tuesday, Mohanty received a message where he was asked to call the number to activate his telephone number.
Mohanty dialed the number where an unknown caller asked him to download the application on his phone.
Whether Mohanty did not suspect downloading the application and waiting for the next caller instruction.
Fraudsters call again and ask him to send Rs 10 to account.
Immediately, Mohanty accepted OTP on his cellphone.
“Uncle I didn’t realize that he was being dragged into the trap.
He shared OTP with a cheater.
In seconds, my uncle’s cellphone was hacked.
Uncle and Aunt remain alone.
He contacted his son, who lived in Hyderabad.
His son advised him to rush to the bank, “Mohanty Susanta Mohanty’s niece.
At the bank, Mohanty was surprised to learn that the fraudsters had attracted Rs 13 Lakh from his account.
“We were surprised that the defendant liquidated three deposits remain worth Rs 12 Lakh my uncle, transferred money to his savings account and pulled all money.
They also attracted one lakh hospital from his account,” Mohanty said.
Police said they tried to identify cyber criminals.
