Patna: At least two Bihar-Centric political parties have decided to try their luck in the upcoming assembly poll in Manipur, scheduled to choose in two phases on February 27 and March 3 this year.
While Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s JD (U) has decided to set its candidate in around 15 assembly constituencies, from a total of 60 in Manipur; Minister of Union Pashupati Kumar Paras-LED Party Rashtriya Lok Janshakti (RLJP) plans to involve his candidates from six constituencies where LJP candidates who used to perform well in the last assembly poll in 2017.
In 1917 polls, Mystorse LJP’s Karam Shyam Win a langsabal seat and also a cabinet minister while the other five candidates have performed well in Saikot, Noriya Pakhanglakpa, Bishunpur, Wangkhem and Nungba’s constituency.
JD (U), as part of the policy decision, has not compiled the 2017 Assembly poll in Manipur.
After being divided into LJP Istama at the national level, the majority of party leaders in Manipur went with RLJP Paras-LED.
Paras is the younger brother of Ram Vilas Paswan.
National Spokesman RLJP Sharvan Kumar Agrawal on Friday said our party president and Minister of Union Paras had visited Manipur in the last week of December to take stock of political scenarios in the northeastern state there.
“After holding a series of discussions with the leaders of the State Unit Manipur, RLJP has decided to oppose the current election.
But our first priority is to oppose the election as part of NDA.
If you fail to accommodate RLJP in the division of seats, parties can decide to do the contest Alone.
The final decision will be taken by the President of the President’s President, “said National RLJP spokesman Sharvan Kumar Agrawal to Ti on Friday.
Agrawal also said in 1917 Manipur LJP Penanal poll, then led by the deceased Ram Vilas Paswan, has lowered his candidate from 17 seats.
The nomination of three candidates does not materialize for different reasons.
Thus, the remaining 14 candidates are contested at the LJP symbol.
The party performs well in at least six constituencies.
The source in JD (U) said the party planned to involve his candidate in at least 15 elections.
“We have decided to focus, especially in seats where we have the opportunity to win the election,” JD (U) National Secretary General and Northeast Party Afaque Ahmad Khan to Ti by telephone.
Khan said JD (U) National President Rajiv Ranjiv Singh aka Lalan Singh and other central leaders visited Manipur in December and held a Mega rally to strengthen the party support base in the northeastern state.
