New Delhi: Samples of electrical cables, flush doors, cement and TMT bars have a high failure rate in tests, according to data from the government’s national test (Nths).
Sample failure in terms of cable and flush doors as high as 20%, while the average 15% of cement samples failed in the test and in the case of 10% TMT bar samples could not meet the specified standards.
Officials in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs said sixth six throughout the country tested around 25,000 samples every year.
Nths does not choose the sample itself but get from manufacturers and consumers.
“They share test reports and this helps manufacturers to modify their products.
Most of these products are included in quality control norms, which require mandatory certification of the bus.
The bus ratifies the product only when this provides tests from Nths and other laboratories,” said an official.
Secretary of Consumer Affairs Union Leena Nandan said the Nths function as a laboratory test for the smallest in the biggest items.
