Kalyan: The forestry department has given approval to move “electric towers” to another place and an alternative place for towers will be available by the Ministry of Forestry for the second tunnel work of the fast-forward airol-dwell project.
The decision was taken when the electric tower on the Airoli side of the tunnel route caused the difficulty of the project.
The decision was taken by the Ministry of Urban Development Eknath Shinde, Commissioner MMRDA S V R Shrinivas and Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Shrikant Shinde on Tuesday at a review meeting held on several ongoing projects under the jurisdiction of Kalyan Lok Sabha.
Airoli-Katai’s improvement project will connect Navi Mumbai and Kalyan-dombivli.
The new route will avoid congestion in the Shilphata and the distance from Airoli to Kata will be reduced only 15 minutes.
“Airoli stage to Mumbra will be open to use next year,” Dr Shinde said when talking to the media.
Working on flyovers in Kalyan Shilphata and underbrides and overbridges in Kalyanthata will start from the second week of October to reduce traffic congestion due to heavy vehicles in Kalyanthata and Shilphata.
The “Class Separation” system in Kalyanthata will help traffic originating from the Mumbra bypass to the route Taloja-Panvel through underpass and flyovers will be built in Kalyanthata for Dombivali-Navi Mumbai traffic.
During the meeting, Dr.
Shinde also suggested MMRDA Commissioner to make 4 flyovers in Kalyantphata on the Kalyanthata-Mahape route instead of being proposed 3 lanes and for the same MMRDA commissioner has agreed to provide additional funds.
