Coimbatore: A 60-year-old guy was murdered by a wild elephant in Waterfall Estate at Valparai on Friday.
The deceased has been known as a Thirumanikam, also a resident of Valparai.
He had been employed as a night watchman in Tennis Court Bungalow.
In accordance with forest officials, just one elephant roaming close to the estate agent to death about 4am.
The body has been taken to the Pollachi Government Hospital for postmortem.
“The victim was able to achieve home from work at 5.30am.
On Friday, since he neglected to come back even after 6am, his wife went outside to hunt for him.
His body was discovered close to the bungalow,” explained Paramasivam, general secretary of Centre of Indian Trade Unions.
Emphasizing the value of picking out a younger man at night duty and supplying torchlight, jacket and umbrella, the union leader said estate employees will often function as watchman at night after working at property.
“The estate direction would provide them only Rs 2,000 as yearly wages contrary to the minimum wage of Rs 300 per cent 315 daily,” he explained.
Paramasivam asked the woods department to take action to stop such events in future.
“The property management must also take responsibility for the event and supply a relief fund into the sufferer’s household ”
