Elephants died after being hit by the train in Kamrup

Guwahati: A male elephant died after being hit by a freight train, traveling from Guwahati to Delhi, in the Kamrup Assam district in early morning.
The incident occurred at 2.50 am while Jumbo, which was almost seven years old, crossing the railway line in the uparpara area of Gokhaikhat near Mirza below the range of Palashbari forests.
The train authority said: “There is no information about any elephant movement in the location mentioned above available.
Forest officials have elephant movement information in other parts of the Azra-Kamakhya section, which is about 11 km from the place of occurrence.
