Coimbatore: A 62-year-old man is trampled on to death by wild elephants at Thadagam Beat of Coimbatore Forest Range on Friday.
The deceased was identified as M Velingiri, from the Atkukkal tribe settlement located within the Forest Reserve in Thadagam.
Officials Department of Forest said that Velingiri went to Forest Reserve to collect grass on Friday.
When he did not go home, his family members and villagers went to look for Him in the reserve forest.
They pay attention to wild elephants and drive away from that place, where they found Velingiri lying dead.
The Ministry of Forestry sent a corpse to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital for Postmortem.
Therrahuthur police were also told about the incident.
Officials of the Department of Forest said that the RS 50,000 will be submitted to family members from the deceased because the immediate assistance fund and the remaining compensation of the Lakh RS 3.5 will be given to them immediately.
