Daltonganj: A total of 20 doctors at Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) in Daltonganj went on strike since Monday morning to demand their remuneration, which was suspected of being unpaid for the past five months.
Because of the strike, hospital emergency services were hit since morning.
Dr.
Sanjay Kumar, who was a senior medical officer at MMCH, said, “The population doctor had locked the emergency room and we were forced to sit outside.
The patients and their servants depend on the closing of emergency services.” However, he said that patients were at high risk Being attended somehow by medical officers.
Later that day, the police from the city police station reached the hospital to calm the protesters.
When asked, the medical supervisor Dr.
Rd Nagesh said, “I am only a part-time supervisor and the government has not given me the power of drawing and distributing salary.
Therefore, regardless of the availability of funds, I cannot release the remuneration of members of the doctor and other staff.” Dr.
Nagesh added That he had written more than half a dozen letters to the State Health Department, urged him gave him the power of drawing and distributing salaries but everything was in vain.
