Letter: A man who was sacked for alleged malpractice was arrested on Saturday for allegedly threatening to kill his former employer, construction contractor, and tried to extort Rs 2 Crore from him.
Police arrested Vijay Sutariya, a resident of Mota Varachha, for allegedly threatening to kill his former employer Vijay Virani, from Katargam.
Sutariya was ordered by police Katargam under various parts of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) including 384 (extortion) and 387 (to make extortion put anyone in fear of death or sadness).
The investigation revealed that Virani companies conducted government construction work in various countries.
Sutariya was employed by Virani.
However, about finding that Sutariya sold construction materials to other traders without his knowledge, Virani raised it in 2019.
Initially, Sutariya demanded money and threatened Virani with complaints to government offices and the Department of Precautions.
But Virani refused to entertain the threat.
So , Sutariya threatened him to kill if he did not pay Rs 2 Crore, “said B D Gobhil, Police Inspector, the Katargam police station.
Sutariya also went to the Virani office and clicked on a picture and recorded the video there.
He then shared videos and photos with labor contractors working with Virani in Karnataka.
