T’Puram: V Sankara Iyer, former Head of the PWD engineer who oversees the construction of several iconic buildings in the city, died here on Tuesday.
He is 89 years old.
He lives in Vazhuthaud.
He began his official assignment as an engineer with PWD in 1954 and retired as Chief Engineer in 1987.
MLA Hostel in Pallayam, Tagore Theater, Nair Chandraskharan Stadium was built during his duty.
He also oversees the construction of the Kumbalam-Aroor Bridge, Valapattanam, Puthuponnani, Chettuva, Muttar, Nedumudi, Thiruvallom Bridges.
He is a Natpac consultant and oversees the construction of Alappuzha-Changanassery roads.
Cremation will be held in Santhikavadom at 10:30 a.m.
He survived his wife Padma, Son Viswanathan, Daughters Jaya and Seetha.
