England can face the main omicron wave from January next year, new analysis warns

LONDON: England can face “big waves” omicron infection from January next year if restrictions on social meetings are not forced, new scientific analysis warns on Saturday.
The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) model put all the scenarios that might remember the current level of infection increases in the UK, with the remaining uncertainty on the numbers that will ultimately need hospitalization because of the virus.
It came when England recorded another leap in the Omicron case on Friday, with 448 new infections, with a total of 1,265.
“Based on what we saw, we could hope for a large omicron wave in the UK,” said Dr.
Nick Davies, one of the researchers behind LSHTM modeling.
This study assumed that Omicron was less severe than the previous variants among those who were vaccinated and therefore hospitalized may not be too high.
However, noting that infected people currently doubled every 2.4 days in the UK, even though the area has a high level of vaccination.
This shows Omicron is set to overtake delta as a dominant variant in this country by the end of this year.
“In our most optimistic scenario, the impact of Omicron at the beginning of 2022 will be reduced by light control measures such as working from home,” Dr.
Rosanna Barnard, one of the analysis researchers, told the BBC.
“However, our most pessimistic scenario shows that we may have to bear more stringent restrictions to ensure the NHS is not overwhelmed.
Wearing a mask, social distance jab and booster are very important, but may not be enough,” he said.
New research has been published.
Online but not through formal processes for review by other scientists.
On Friday, the face cover became mandatory in most indoor places in the UK, including theater, cinema, places of worship, museums and indoor sports stadiums, in steps to overcome the omicron variant.
From Monday, work from home where the possibility of a kicking guide as part of disaster plan B from the steps to try and slow down the spread of new variants.
From next week, Covid-19 Vaccine Custom Cates will be mandatory to enter most places.
Coming after the British Health Security Agency (UKHSA) reported the initial findings to reveal that the third top-up booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine reached 75 percent effective in protecting the Omicron variant.
This analyzes data from 581 omicron cases and thousands of Delta cases to calculate how effective vaccines fight new variants.
This shows a dramatic decline in effectiveness of Omicron for Oxford / Astrazeneca vaccine – managed in India as a covishield – and a significant drop off for two doses for the Pfizer / Biontech vaccine.
“We hope the vaccine shows higher protection against serious Covid-19 complications,” said Dr Mary Ramsay, Head of Immunization in UKHSA.
