LONDON: The British government has reportedly planned to eliminate the Requirements of the Covid-19 Mandatory Test Post-arrival to this country for tourists who are fully vaccinated, including from India, as part of preparation must live with Coronavirus in the future.
According to ‘The Sunday Times’, British transportation secretary Shapps is understood to end the testing regime for everyone who already has a vaccine dose, in time for school holidays in the UK.
Moving, which will save the family of hundreds of pounds and improve the travel industry hit pandemic, will follow the Covid Pre-arrival test scrapping from the beginning of the new year.
Under the current rules, travelers who arrived in the UK were required to remain at their address stated on the passenger locator form that binded legally until they recorded a negative lateral flow or the PCR test results ordered earlier.
Positive tests require a 10-day quarantine at the address, although this can be cut short with a negative lateral flow test on the sixth and seven days.
Those who are not fully vaccinated must isolate 10 full days on arrival, with tests needed on day two and eight.
‘The Sunday Times’ quoted a source close to the Minister of Transportation to say that he supports relaxing this rule at the end of this month.
“We are looking at all Covid tests for vaccinated travelers at the end of January, which will likely coincide with the review of the step B on January 26,” the source told the newspaper.
January 26 is the date intended to review current rules, with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to raise the ongoing B limit plan, he announced in December 2021 to combat the Omicron variant.
This includes working from home if possible and wearing masks in shops and public transportation.
