England fined eight WTC points for excessive violations in Brisbane: ICC

Dubai: England has been sentenced to eight points of world and non-five test punishment, as announced earlier, to maintain a slow level in the first test against Australia in Brisbane, ICC clarified on Friday.
The international cricket council had previously announced that the United Kingdom fined 100 percent of the match costs and five WTC points for excessive violations in Brisbane last week.
England is eight short overs (not 5 short overs as announced before) but only fined 100 percent of their match costs because of its limits.
“However, deduction points for penalty overs are not closed and must reflect the number of actual number of team penalties that lack the minimum requirements as per clause of 16.1.2 of the condition of playing ICC, then they have been sentenced to one point for each because they are short,” ICC said in a statement.
“In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC code of ethics for player personnel and players, which are related to minimum excessive violations, players are fined 20 percent of their match costs for each side they fail in the specified time, to a maximum fine of 100 percent of the cost of the match,” Add it.
England left behind 0-1 in the ashes of five matches and struggled in the second test on Adelaide.
