LONDON: The UK has warned all English citizens in Afghanistan to immediately leave the country because of the “deteriorating security situation” as a battle increasing.
Foreign office, Commonwealth and Development on Friday updated its website to advise all trips to Afghanistan.
“All British citizens in Afghanistan are advised to go now in a commercial way.
If you are still in Afghanistan, you are advised to go now in a commercial way because of the deteriorating security situation,” he said.
The overseas office warns British citizens not to rely on emergency evacuation, saying the assistance that can be provided is “very limited”.
The warning occurred after the Taliban launched a major attack to coincide with the withdrawal of US foreign troops after almost two decades of conflict.
“Terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Afghanistan.
Specific attack methods evolved and increased in sophistication,” said the foreign office.
The Taliban now controls the plots in the countryside of Afghanistan and challenges government forces in several cities, including Herat, near the Western border with Iran, and Lashkar Gah and Kandahar in the south.
On Friday, Islamic guerrillas won their first provincial capital since increasing their attacks in May.
Zaranj, the capital of Southwestern Nimroz Province, falls “without fighting”, Deputy Governor of Spirit Province Gul Khairzad told AFP.
