Dubai: England explosion opener Jason Roy has been ruled out from the rest of the T20 World Cup with a calf and James Vince injury has been designed into his replacement forces.
Roy suffered a calf injury in England’s defeat to South Africa in their last Super 12 match in Sharjah.
Roy looks in a lot of pain and can’t walk back to the dressing room alone.
He looks at crutches after the match.
“I’m broken hearted to be ruled out from the World Cup.
This is a bitter pill to swallow,” said Roy in a statement.
“I will stay to support boys, and hopefully, we can go far and lift the trophy.
It has become an extraordinary journey so far, and we must continue to express ourselves and concentrate on us.” The rehabilitation has begun, and even though I have tore my calves, I will give myself the best opportunity to be ready for the T20 Caribbean tour at the beginning of next year.
“England faced New Zealand in the first semifinals in the semifinals of Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
England has the choice to promote Jonny Bairstow up with Jos Buttler and play Sam Billings in the middle of the Order.
The Technical Committee for the T20 World Cup T20 Male 2021 has approved Vince as a substitute Roy in British troops.
Vince is one of three reserves according to concessions for the team to travel with additional players considering the requirements of Quarantine Covid-19.
