LONDON: British public health (PHE) said on Friday Pfizer and Astrazeneca Covid-19 vaccine effectively against Covid-19 symptomatic infection in a high-risk group, citing pre-printed studies based on 1 million vulnerable people.
The effectiveness of the overall vaccine on symptomatic disease in the risk group is around 60% after one dose of astrazeneca or pfizer-bionech with a little age difference, the word PHE.
It rose to 81% for Astrazeneca after the second dose in the risk group aged 16 to 64, without the data available for Pfizer.
Among them more than 64, Pfizer was 89% effective and astrazeneca 80% effective after the second dose, said the health agency.
“This real world data shows for the first time that most people who are clinically vulnerable to Covid-19 still receive a high level of protection after 2 vaccine doses,” said Mary Ramsay, Head of Immunization in Phe.
