Vadodara: The Central Policy Control Agency (CPCB) has asked the Gujarat (GPCB) pollution control board to ensure compliance with the Green Tribunal (NGT) national regularity in connection with the Vishwamitri River.
NGT on May 25 has issued orders stating that the entire zone of the Wiswamitri River Flood Zone must be mapped and limited.
The order also states that illegal structures are invalid, must be removed and the integrity of the river must be maintained and restored.
The order was issued in connection with the planned action of the Wiswamitri River.
Last month, Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) began cleaning the river bank after a group of caring citizens led by environmental activists Rohit Prajapati issued a notice to all authorities stating that the Civic body violated NGT’s command.
Making all truly destructive exercises, a group of residents said that the activity violated various orders, directions, and special actions of the Wild Life Act (Protection), in 1972 and NGT May 25.
“GPCB is the demand for the Nodal Agency to check the suggestions provided by the Applicant and also to take the necessary actions to ensure compliance with NGT sequence.
Also, reports taken actions can be sent to the complainant directly with a copy to CPCB, Delhi,” pollutary letters said State center.
