New Delhi: In the midst of fear of uptick in terrorist activities in Jammu & Kashmir, the Taliban said they had the right to speak of the rights of Muslims in the valley.
Suhail Shaheen spokesman also said, in accordance with the DOHA agreement with the US, the Taliban would not allow terror groups to use Afghanistan to attack other countries.
“When the flag was recently removed from a gurdwara in Afghanistan, some Hindus and others said this was done by the Taliban.
We have good relationships with minorities and let them practice their faith.
Just as they raise this problem, we also have rights , as a Muslim, to speak to Muslims in Kashmir, in India or other countries, “Shaheen said in an interview with BBC Hindi.
Shaheen was later quoted at another channel that the Taliban would not disturb Kashmir.
“We have the right to say -…
Look, these are your citizens and have the same rights according to your law and you have to apply the law.
We have said the same thing in the past,” Shaheen added.
A spokesman also said this does not mean that the Taliban will take military action or act against any country.
Shaheen responded to Questions about Kashmir and referred to a recent incident in Paktia Province where the Taliban rebels moved Nishan Sahib from a Gurdwara.
Sikh flag was restored the next day.
In relation to Pakistan, Shaheen said the Taliban had a political bond with Islamabad but was wrong to say the Taliban was fighting for Pakistan.
Come on days after Senior Leader Mohammed Stanikzai met with the Indian Ambassador in Qatar, Shaheen’s statement about Kashmir could take several insults from outreach that was said to be in India.
There has been speculation that the Taliban seeks to convince Pakistan by not acknowledging a meeting with the Indian Ambassador Deepak Mittal on Tuesday.
In the past few days, Stanikzai’s office has confirmed a similar meeting with several other countries, including Germany, China, Canada and Turkey.
