Mexico City: Entertainment criticized the state-owned Mexico oil company on Saturday after a gas leak in the underwater pipeline releasing a subaquatic fireball which seems to boil the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
Greenpeace Mexico said Friday’s accident seemed to be caused by the failure of the underwater valve and it illustrates the danger of Mexico policy promoting fossil fuels.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador is very betting to drill more wells and buy or build an oil refinery.
He cared for oil as “the best business in the world.” Greenpeace wrote in a statement that fire, which takes five hours to extinguish, “shows a serious risk that Mexican fossil fuel model poses for the environment and safety of the community.” Climate Activist Greta Thunberg posts a video clip from a large fireball on his Twitter account.
“Meanwhile, the ruling people call themselves climate leaders’ when they open new oil fields, pipes and coal power plants – provide a new oil license that explores the oil drilling site in the future,” Thunberg wrote.
“This is the world they will leave for us.” The state-owned oil company Mexico said on Friday that underwater gas pipes broke near the drilling platform in the bay.
Petroleo Mexicanos sent a fire control boat to pump more water on fire.
Pemex, because the company is known, said no one was injured in the incident in the ku-maloob-zaap field off the coast.
Leaks near Fajar Friday occur around 150 yards (meters) from the drilling platform.
The company said it had brought gas leaks under the control of about five hours later.
It is not clear how much environmental damage caused by gas leaks and oceans.
