MEERUT: AIMIM leader and members of the corporation members Meerut Municipal Zubair Ansari on Saturday were shot by attackers borne by bicycles, police.
Ansari belongs to the All Indian Party Majlis-e-Itehad-Ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) and is a member of the Ward 80 of Meerut Corporation, he was shot dead outside his home near Santosh Hospital in Nauchandi in Meerut Regency, police said.
Prabhakar Choudhary, SSP, Meerut said that four attackers on two motorbikes opened fire on Ansari as he came out to walk in the morning.
“Aimim members of Zibair Ansari were shot dead by unknown criminals outside his residence,” said Prabhakar Choudhary, the SSP of Meerut said.
Ansari’s body has been sent for Post Mortem.
Police said the initial investigation showed that the murder was related to property disputes.
Further investigation is underway.
