The Premier Burnley League match at home to Leicester City on Saturday was postponed because they had a squad that was up because Covid-19 cases and injuries among the players, the league was announced on Friday.
“The Premier League board received the Burnley application because the club did not have the number of players needed for the match (13 outfield players and one goalkeeper), because of Covid-19 cases and injuries,” said the league in a statement.
It became the 20th Premier League match for postponing this season because of Covid-19 cases and injuries at the club.
The UK recorded 109,133 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, down from 129,587 on Wednesday and nearly 24% lower for the last seven days compared to the previous week.
The 18-year-old Burnley in the League at 11 points, after playing 17 matches, two points adrift of salvation zones.
Leicester was 10 at 25 points after 18 matches.
