Kochi: In another incident of the brutality of animals in the district, a dog and seven of his one-month-old puppy was burned by a woman in Manjali below the limit of the Alangad police station.
Puppies die from burns while their mothers fled with injury.
Mary from Manjali Diamond Mukku in Ward number three under Karumalloor Panchayat burned the dogs at his home on Saturday night.
The incident video showed that the woman burned puppies using Flambeau, on the terrace.
Animal rights activists save the dog.
Mary told the police that she buryed dead puppies in the nearest complex.
The case has been registered at the Alangad police station after power, an animal judge organization based in Muvattupuzha, filed a complaint.
The case has been registered under Section 429 of IPC and 11 (1) Prevention of atrocities on the 1960s’ Law.
The 429 part of the IPC includes five years in prison and a fine to kill, poison or merely no animal worth Rs 50 or above.
This is a violation that is responded to.
According to complaints by power, the woman killed puppies in the same way last year too.
“Veterinarians are advised to provide antibiotics to injured dogs for three days and to observe for the next 10 days.
The woman told police that seven puppies were burned to death on Saturday,” said Purackal from the Animal Welfare Organization.
A Panchayat member said the woman told them after the incident was revealed that the dogs made him very uncomfortable and that he had fallen to the ground after a dog demanded him.
“He should have told us about the disturbances caused by dogs in his house.
We will shift animals from there,” said Panchayat members.
Last month, some wild dogs were destroyed by people in Thrikara with alleged knowledge of the authorities.
