Erratic water supply, 20K Sushant Lok Families rely on tankers

Gurgaon: The erratic water supply in Sushant Lok-1 has been the cause of more than 20,000 family concerns in the colony.
During the past six months, residents claimed that they had faced acute shortages with only 15-20 minutes of water supply or one day there was no supply at all.
Losing adequate supply, they are left without choice but pay through the nose for water from tankers.
Sudha Tiwari, a resident of Sushant Lok-1, said, “We have suffered for the past six months and now with the celebration season settings, we certainly face heat.
We barely get water to do simple household tasks every day.” Residents said they were abandoned at the mercy of private tankers, who had exploited this situation by charging secretly.
And many of their complaints for MCG just fall on deaf ears, they claim.
“During the summer, we have to come out anywhere between Rs 1,200-Rs 1,800 for tankers.
We have begged the authorities to see problems but so far only get false guarantees,” said Sanjeev Kumar, residents, said.
According to residents, water management colonies were taken over by MCG in 2017, while the transfer of colonies officially occurred in 2019.
Since then, there has been no infrastructure development to meet the increasing demand for colonies.
Sudhir Sachdeva, another resident, said, “Our water pipes are old and rusty.
Good motorcycle pumps have been upgraded or the generator is installed.” The population accused that some developers violated the rules of the building and had used drinking water for construction purposes.
“There is no check from the authorities to prevent water abuse,” said Meena Wanchu, another resident.
When contacted, Sunder Sheoran, the MCG executive engineer, claimed to have discussed the problem.
“Last week because of some problems, the water supply was disrupted in the area, but we had resolved the problem.
There were no new complaints that were brought to my knowledge.”
