Shivamogga: The newly appointed Minister of Shivamogga KS Eshwarappa and Araga Jnanendra on Friday examined the flood-affected areas in Thirthahalli Taluk from the Shivamogga District.
The ministers began a tour of Mandagadde Hobli where the farm of the agriculture was washed due to heavy rain last month.
Then they visited places hit by landslides in the Taluk.
Heggaru Betta in Kudige Village, Huli Betta in Yogi Narasipura Village and Yedehallikere.
They also visited Bharatipura and Geruvalli and examined Mudslides on the highway.
Speaking to the media, Jnanendra said, “Landslides were reported at least 10 places in Thirthahalli Taluk within 24 hours of Cloudburst last month.
We are preparing a list of damage.” Eshwarappa said the district government estimated the loss of Rs 480 Crore in the recent flood.
Rain destroyed nearly 4,609 hectares of agricultural crops and 1,132 hectares of horticultural plants in this district.
While 126 houses were fully damaged and 478 houses were partially, 56 km of the country and a broken national highway.
Four people died and their family members would get compensation, Eshwarappa said.
Esharappa will continue its tour in all districts on Saturdays and Jnanendra will examine the areas affected by the flood in Chikkamagaluru during the weekend.
