Coimbatore: The gap between the oxygen demand and supply has dropped in the district, with the government hospitals steadily increasing the capacity to generate the same. After various corporate houses and service organisations, Premier Mills Group has now come forward to set up a modular oxygen generating system in the ESI Hospital at a cost of Rs 1 crore.Shanthi Srinivasan, managing director, Premier Fine Linens Pvt Ltd, said the system would have a capacity to generate 500 litres oxygen per minute and serve 100 beds at the hospital.
“The modular system has a separate compressor unit and a decentralised oxygen concentration system that caters to two beds at the same time, making it an effective alternative to address the current scenario.”At 813, the ESI Hospital has the highest number of oxygen equipped beds in the district presently.
It is to be noted that the hospital had just 286 such beds a month ago.
Of the 813 beds, 267 are vacant now, as the number of Covid patients requiring oxygen support has come down.
