Mumbai: The court here on Tuesday returned two Mumbai police officers, arrested in connection with extortion cases registered at the Marine drive police station here, to 14 days of justice.
The court refused the police requesting an extension of detention duo in a case where the former Police Commissioner Mumbai Param Bir Singh was also the defendant.
The two officers arrested, Inspector Nandkumar Gopale and Asha Korke, were previously posted at the Crime Crime Branch.
The duo was arrested last week based on a complaint of extortion submitted by the developer of the Agrawal Shyamsunder real estate at the Drive Marine Police Station in July.
On Tuesday, the defendant was produced before the additional Metropolitan Magistrate R M Nerlikar at the end of the previous police detention.

Fir in this case was named Param Bir Singh and seven others, including five Mumbai police officers, as accused.
Five policemen mentioned in Fir is DCP (Crime Branch) Akbar Pathhan, Assistant Commissioner of Police Shrikant Shinde, ACP Sanjay Patil, Duo Arrested by Korke and Gopale.
During the investigation, the police had arrested the former Agarwal Business Partner Sanjay Punamia and his colleague Sunil Jain in this case.
They are currently running out of guarantees.
In accordance with the FIR, Agrawal accused that based on the case of “wrong”, Param Bir Singh and other police officers have extorted money from him at Punamia’s orders.
