Berlin: The death toll from floods in Western Europe rose above 180 on Sunday after rescue workers dug deeper into debris left by the lowuting waters.
Police put victims from the Ahrweiler area who were hit hard in the western state of West Germany more than 110 and said they were afraid of the number may still rise.
In neighboring North Rhine-Westphalia, the most populous German, 45 people were confirmed to die, including four firefighters.
And Belgium has confirmed 27 victims.
Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Schuld, a village near Ahrweiler who was destroyed by the flood, Sunday.
His visit came after the German President went to the area on Saturday and explained that it would need long-term support.
Finance Minister Olaf Scholz said he would propose an immediate assistance package at the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, told Bild Am Sonntag newspapers that more than 300 million euros ($ 354 million) would be needed.
And he said that officials must start preparing the return program, from experiences with previous flooding, will be billions of euros.
Although the rain has stopped in the worst, Belgian and Dutch, Hurricane and Rainstorms have survived in other parts of West and Central Europe.
There was a flood Saturday night in the German-Czech border area, throughout the country where the flood last week hit, and in the southeastern corner of Germany and passed the border in Austria.
About 65 people were evacuated in the German Berchtesgaden area after the Ache River swelled.
At least one person was killed.
Flash floods hit the Austrian city near Hallein Saturday night, but there were no victims’ reports.
Heavy rain and storm caused serious damage in some parts of Austria.
Climate scientists say the relationship between extreme weather and global warming is no longer wrong and urgency to do something about undisputed climate change.
Scientists have not been able to say exactly whether climate change causes flooding, but they insist that it must exacerbate extreme weather that has been shown throughout the world.
