European patents in formulations ‘eye droplets’ are given to asst. Prof. Vikas Rana.

PATIALA: A European Patent was given to Assistant Professor Vikas Rana and his research team on eye drops formulations found effectively for the treatment of dry eye diseases during pracinate investigations.
Vikas Rana, Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Medicine Research Punjabi University, Patiala has published more than 75 international research papers in a high-impact journal factor, one US patent, many books and handles many projects provided by central agencies worth CRORES.
In the research activities Vikas Rana has guided research to many PhD and postgraduate students.

This European patent was given to Dr.
Vikas Rana was the development of eye drops given before constant exposure to radiation or excessive heat yield in the prevention of drying the surface of the cornea and patients feel fresh.
During a preclinical investigation it was found that these eye drops contain new molecules safe, effective and non-toxic.
Now, the University plans to go for clinical trials that work with government and non-government agencies.

Arvind, Deputy Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala said this was a very proud moment for the University and he promised to support further research work.
AK Tiwari, Dean Research said, “This patent is the result of a long research project.
Now it will enter the clinical trial which is a very expensive business so we are looking for cooperation with the industry.
I hope some industries will advance to support clinical trials.
This is important because many people face problems related to dry eyes.
There are artificial tears available on the market but this is relatively seen because it is based on natural ingredients.
People of all ages spend a lot of time on the screen whether they are cellphones or computers or television so they suffer from dry eye syndrome.
