Mumbai: Kolhapur Municipal Corporation will provide property tax concessions to those who establish electric vehicle charging stations (EV) in residential areas.
State Minister for Transportation Satej Patil said concessions and incentives have been announced for cooperative housing communities who promote e-car and e-bikes and regulate charging stations in buildings throughout Kolhapur.
Patil tweeted that the body of Kolhapur Civic is the first to offer such concessions in the state.
This occurs when the state government has formulated policies to promote electric vehicles and strengthen EV charging infrastructure.
State policy targets that 10% of the total vehicle registration in the state must be electricity in 2025.
“Kolhapur wants to lead by giving an example of implementing this policy,” Patil said in his tweet.
The minister further added that the Government of the Government and Kolhapur did the best to fulfill commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by encouraging environmentally friendly and sustainable vehicles.
“Maharashtra Vikas Ahadi has announced a policy to provide an electric vehicle encouragement in the form of incentives and tax discount.
I will ensure that the EV industry in the country maintains the top position in the country and takes EV to the threshold of each one of us,” he said in Media statements, adding that he wanted another local body to follow him.
The state in July launched an EV policy that provides many incentives, tax discounts to encourage the manufacture of electric vehicles and additional businesses.
It also offers subsidies for two-wheeled and car buyers.
The policy frees EV from road taxes, registration fees and other price discounts regarding vehicle manufacturing unit settings.
The policy also announces incentives for manufacturing batteries, chargers, components produced by the additional sector.
