New Delhi: India on Thursday called the kidnapping of the Afghan Ambassador’s daughter in Islamabad last week “Very surprising” and dragged to Pakistan to drag the new Delhi into the incident.
Silsila Alikhil, a 26-year-old daughter of Afghan Ambassador Najibullah Alikhil, was kidnapped and held for several hours by an unknown man in Islamabad last Friday.
Pakistani Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has accused Afghanistan and India “distorting” facts related to kidnapping and claiming that it is part of a series of efforts to criticize and disrupt the country.
Reacting strongly in the satire of Pakistan, a spokesman for the External Ministry (MEA) Arinindam Bagchi said neighboring countries had “bent to a new low, even with their own standards”.
“This is a surprising incident,” Bagchi said on the media briefing, while showing that it was a problem involving Afghanistan and Pakistan.
“However, because Pakistani’s interior minister has dragged India into it, I just wanted to say that even with their standards, Pakistan’s refusal of the victim’s account bent to a new low,” he said.
Kidnapping deteriorated the tense relations of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
