Cricket Australia Chief Executive Nick Hockley has requested fans to respect the social distance and other Covid-19 protocols after the incident that ruled Australia Captain Pat Cummins from the second ash test.
Cummins was pulled from the squad on the night of the match with England after being considered a close contact of customers at a restaurant in Adelaide which returned the Covid-19 positive test.
“Everyone must now be vigilant because we have a very high disturbance case,” Hockley told Sen Radio.
“That’s where we need to make sure there is a social distance, so we ask everyone to respect the public.” It’s a real shame because what we have seen is a player who wants to interact with fans.
“But now we have a very clear protocol.
Just as in the field of the game, we need to make sure that people operate in a truly biosech.” The emergence of the Omicron variant has seen Covid-19 cases increase in Melbourne and Sydney and, with cities because they hosted two subsequent ash tests, players will also be asked to do additional warnings.
“We are always vigilant,” said Hockley.
“I think it’s a wake up call for everyone along the game.
This is a wake-up call for sports.
It’s not unique to sports in Australia or around the world.
We see a little disturbance.” The decision now we need to make in the protocol ensure that when it comes out in public the players come out in small groups, so we don’t take the whole team (with Covid) and people are generally in the outside setting, we socially distance, and all That kind of thing.
“This is our protocol which is clearly supported by a very healthy dose of common sense.”
