JAMMU/HAZARIBAG: Even a former Army commando-turned-professional killer, Avtar Singh, who had implemented the Hazaribag courtroom shootout at 2015 through which undertrial gangster Sushil Shrivastav along with 2 of the gang members had been murdered, was detained in Jammu on Thursday, Jammu authorities said on Sunday.
A group from Hazaribag authorities had brought Singh back from Jammu later trying his custody regarding transit remand.
Singh has a lot of murder cases filed against him Hazaribag, Ramgarh, Ranchi and Chatra districts.
The accused is a resident of Udhampur in Jammu and also had availed voluntary retirement in the Army after taking the shootout and has been living a settled existence beating his subjects.
Resources on condition of anonymity showed that Singh was functioning as a commando from the elite 4 Parachute Commando Battalion stationed at Udhampur at the moment.
But they didn’t disclose the way the accused came in touch with all the conspirators.
Jammu SSP Chandan Kohli said that the accused has been hired by means of a rival gang because of his sharp-shooting abilities and has been paid a hefty sum to perform the assault.
“A particular data was obtained by Jammu authorities a couple of days back and an operation was started in RS Pura region of Jammu and also a man named as Avtar Singh, son of Naseeb Singh of Udhampur, has been contested for a questionable bullet injury in his foot,” he explained.
“Originally he shared no invaluable info but on continued questioning, the accused began to spill the beans also confessed he was included from the Hazaribag courtroom shootout and had obtained the bullet injury from the episode,” the SSP said.
Through questioning, the accused told the authorities in 2015 he had been serving at the Army when a number of individuals approached him and provided a substantial sum to remove Sushil Srivastava, and they proposed the shootout from the Hazaribag court complicated using an AK-47 gun.
“The accused maintained he had escaped in the courtroom complicated after the episode but had been taken in the foot at retaliatory police shooting,” the SSP said.
“Following the shootout, he had been paid a substantial amount by the individuals who had proposed the episode and afterwards he lacked voluntary retirement in the Army and had been living a life far from his criminal past before Jammu authorities was able to follow and arrest him.
Yet another shooter hired to execute the offense is not yet been detained along with a manhunt is moving on to locate him” Kohli added.
Researchers along with other intelligence agencies on condition of anonymity demonstrated the second accused had served at the special forces.
The SSP added that Jharkhand Police were advised about the defendant, and a group of cops contacted Jammu and took custody of the accused, who’s currently being accepted to Jharkhand to get additional investigation.
